EQUINOX
Today the students of Middle Section explored the cosmic phenomenon that occured twice a year i.e on March 21 and September 23 which is called EQUINOX. The word equinox is derived from the Latin word 'aequus' which means equal and 'nox' the term for night. In theory the planet should get 12 hours of daylight and 12 hours of darkness on the equinox dates. For six months each of the year either the Northern or Southern Hemisphere is pointing slightly towards the Sun, bringing the longer days and warmer temperatures of spring and summer. According to the astronomical definition of the season , autumn for the Northern Hemisphere begins with the September Equinox . Its position is dictated by the Earth’s orbit and it falls at a slightly different time each year. In 2023, the autumn equinox occured today on September 23 at precisely 12:19 p.m.in India. It was indeed a special day for the students when under the able guidance of our incharge Mrs Komal Arora they got an opportunity to gain knowledge about the concept of EQUINOX by watching the videos.
