Odissi Dance Performance under SPIC MACAY enthralls Kundanities
SPIC MACAY (Society for the promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth) conducted an ‘Odissi’ dance performance in our school Ludhiana to promote Indian classical music and culture.
The event began with a formal welcome of the artists and SPIC MACAY organizers.
Mrs Sujata Mohapatra a renowed Indian Odissi dancer created magical moments in the school. She was supported by Mr Rajesh Kumar Lenka, Budhanath Swain, Rudra Prasad Parida and Ashish Kumar Perei as accompanists.
Mrs Sujata Mohapatra is one of the finest exponents of the Indian Classical dance form of “Odissi” the oldest among the eight Indian classical dance forms. She has participated in major dance festivals in India and abroad. The children were given training in the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu and various dance postures in Odissi dance. She mesmerized the audience with her outstanding performance .The students of class VI-VIII applauded her by giving standing ovation. The School Principal Mr AP Sharma addressed the gathering emphasizing the role of music in our life and said that this kind of training will prove helpful in future in improving the talents of the children. He also thanked the dancer for her spectacular performance and for sparing her valuable time to be amongst them.
